Should you be a Marine to get an Eagle Globe Anchor tattoo?

My brother in law was a Marine and he was recently killed. I want to get a memorial tattoo for him and i was thinking of getting a slightly modified version of an Eagle Globe and Anchor on my shoulder with his name and date of birth and date of death. Is this disrespectfull in anyway since i am not a Marine myself.

I would say ask a Marine. Seriously. They are so tight and I personally think they would not like this symbol altered or used by a non Marine even in memory of one.
